Crawl Media curates short excerpts of film, television, podcast and archival material for people who make commentary, criticism and educational video. We look for the moments that carry an argument, clear each one with the people who own it, and deliver it in a form built for vertical short-form video: one excerpt, one license, up to 60 seconds.
How we work
We work directly with rightsholders to secure licenses for specific scenes. Our catalog is updated weekly.
- Select. Editorial reviews the source and marks the excerpt, never more than 60 seconds.
- Clear. Licensing agrees written terms with the rightsholder for that specific excerpt.
- Prepare. The excerpt is cut, checked and catalogued with an Excerpt ID, shot type and tags.
- License. Licensees receive the file and a one-page license confirmation.
Three desks, one catalog
Every excerpt passes through all three before it is listed.
Editorial Director
Sets the editorial standard for the catalog: which moments are worth licensing, how they are described, and whether an excerpt can stand on its own without misrepresenting its source.
Licensing Coordinator
Runs every rightsholder agreement and license confirmation, keeps the chain of title for each Excerpt ID, and handles requests from licensees.
Content Strategist
Tracks what commentary creators need next, plans the weekly catalog additions, and maintains the shot-type and tag metadata that keeps the catalog searchable.
